Site P10

Campground Info: There are numerous dispersed camp sites along one Ridge Road, off of Thunderbird Mountain Road. We stayed at P10 for about a week and really enjoyed our stay.

Sites P9, P10, P11 are all RV friendly. Sites P6, P4, & P2 are RV accessible, however, you must park on the shoulder of the road and walk down to your tent pad and fire pit, picture shown below. Some of these spots have more or less parking space than the others. I would say the max length that would be able to stay here would be roughly 35 ft give or take.

Site P2 standing where you would park, looking towards the lake.

Driving notes / RV accessible roads: If you are coming from the south, expect some winding roads, but nothing too bad. But if you are coming from Knoxville, beware, I am pretty sure this route is not RV friendly and maybe referred to as “the tail of the dragon”. Do your research, I can only speak on this traveling from Georgia to this campsite. US 129 is the Tail of the Dragon and is a known motorcycle and sports car route, daunting 318 curves in 11 miles with no joining roads. We came from Canton Georgia to Santeetlah Lake and has no issues reaching the camp site safely. Just be aware of this stretch of dangerous road.

Site P4

Site amenities: Each campsite has a tent pad, picnic table, fire pit, and some have a lantern post and a charcoal grill.

Cell Coverage: There is good service for AT&T, I had about 3 bars on average during my stay.

Things to do / see: There is a marina next to the campsites but it is only open during the summer. You can rent a boat from here when they are open. There is also water access from basically all the campsites here, so you can bring your own kayak or paddleboard.

There isn’t a lot of things to do around here but if you have a car, you maybe interested in driving the tail of the dragon (not in an RV!). There are a few companies renting motorcycles as well to drive The Tail of The Dragon, check out Wolf Creek Rentals for more information. There is also a coffee truck in Robbinsville that may be worth a stop. Other than that we enjoyed walking along the Pine Ridge Rd.
